All good things must come to an end, and today it was time to go back to school. Wow! They missed me here at OMS, and I got a big welcome back. It was another "Zebra Day", with lots of staff and students dressed in black and white stripes. My favorite was Kori's hand-made t-shirt that said "Zebra Power!" on the front and "Welcome Back, Mrs. Russell" on the back!

And check out this "Welcome Back" banner the 8th graders worked on! It's covered with messages and signatures and short reports on all kinds of topics having to do with Kenya-- and lots of great pictures. Then there was the selection of Kenyan music that accompanied the morning announcements, the two boxes of "Zebra Cakes" that appeared in my office, and the 5th period 8th grade party scheduled for tomorrow...

Don't you wish YOU worked here!!?

About me

  • Hi! My name is Shayne Russell, and I'm the Library Media Specialist at Kenneth R. Olson Middle School in Tabernacle, NJ. Come along with me on an adventure to Kenya, Africa! We will be working as volunteer researchers, side-by-side with scientists who are studying the endangered Grevy's Zebra. Let's see what research looks like... outside of the library!
